can you believe…

That this is the same child we brought home from the Ukraine just ten weeks ago?

In less than three months she has gone from a malnourished little five year old who weighed only sixteen pounds, could hardly sit up on her own, could not eat solid food, cried constantly, scratched the back of ears until they were raw, rocked back and forth to comfort herself, made strange sounds, was constantly overwhelmed, was afraid of everything, hated loud noises, chewed her fingers until they were calloused, had terrible reflux, ground her teeth to stumps…
to this…
A beautiful little girl who is thriving, growing, learning, blossoming and becoming all that God has created her to be.
Is anything impossible for the Lord?
Is there not hope for every single child?
Adoption changes lives!

Thank you so much for rescuing her from a life of confinement and opening her world to one filled with endless possiblities and joy :)

The picture, I saw the anonymous commenter who posted the link… it seems it was taken in October 2007 so Hailee must have been around 2 when the picture was taken. She didn’t have any bump on her head, so I guess it must have been some time after the nurses’ visit that things went downhill for her, the poor thing.

I wonder if some of the nurses (especially the lady who held her in the photo) may have know more about her history, I’m sure that she’ll be delighted to see update photos of her in your blog :)

I am so glad that this photo is your hailee - I really thought it was when I saw it - if you know anyone interested in Natalia the older other angels (epilepsy and flat feet) check the torez album 2010 there are about 5 new pictures of her. Someone needs to rescue that little girl (whose eye liner and mascara out does mine!) :)

I’m in love with her little armpit chub roll too, so cute! The first picture is absolutely heartbreaking but the difference is truly remarkable, thank you for sharing!

She is just SO. DANG. CUTE! Strike that… she’s beautiful, and what God is doing in her is nothing short of a miracle. You should give pictures of Hailee & Harper to the family who is adopting Wade & Yuri so the orphanage workers can see what a difference LOVE makes in a life.

p.s. I hope it is alright for me to ask… has Hailee smiled spontaneously yet? :) I remembered that you were able to make her giggle and smile, but not spontaneously… I would love for that to happen, soon! if not yet. :)

Wow!!! The growth is just incredible! Just goes to show that God IS love. His love is so powerful. His fingerprints are all over this precious little one of yours! What a powerful testimony.

It is totally amazing to see the change and progress in Hailee in such an incredibly short time! I’m stunned and overly happy for her and for you.

Your blog is the biggest inspiration for both me and my husband. We have several “quotes” from you that we mention to each other almost daily, while considering the direction of our family life…

    Hi Adeye,
This is actually a comment about your blogging plans - I did not find a way to leave a comment on that actual post. Anyway, I gave my vote for you to have one bigger blog, since 2 blogs might be too much work, and those who mainly follow one or the other, could miss out something important, or you might be having hard time deciding what to post where.. So, it would be great if you could have one blog and maybe have more categories there, for those who want to get info about adoption etc. I have followed one cool blog where similar change was made, I don’t know if you are familiar with http://beboldjen.com - if not, maybe you’d like to check it out, it might give you some ideas in the planning. Thank you so much for blogging, what ever form it will take - oh, and another worry I had was that if blogging about family in the other blog you might soon want to make it private and then us who don’t know you in real life (I live in Finland), would be missing out big time…. your blog has been a huge blessing to me and my family, encouraging us in our journey in adoption and foster parenting. God bless!
    Tanja

Can’t believe how Hailee has blossomed in such a short time. She is absolutely beautiful! What a testament to the difference adoption makes in a child’s life! Thank-you for sharing.

Oh my what an adorable smile!! The feet in the air are the best!! My sister had DS and I work with children with DS also. I felt just sick to my stomach when you wrote about the girls orphanage. So thrilled to see what love and a family can do for one treated so poorly. If only those that send their babies to orphanages could see what it could be.
