people ask me…

Why I spend so much time here on my blog advocating for orphans around the world?

“You can’t save them all,” they say.

“Why don’t you just let children grow up in their own countries?”

“Is this your family blog or an adoption blog?”

Well, the answer is simple really.

Like it or not, I will spend the rest of the days the LORD gives me breath on this earth fighting with everything I have for the orphan-for the ones who have no voice!

I will never, ever give up on the ones left behind.

Why?

Because I have seen with my own eyes.  I have witnessed what a difference family can make in the life of a child.  I have seen a miracle unfold before my very eyes…every single day in my home.

Her name is Hailee, and she is a miracle.

Hailee in the orphanage-on death’s doorstep!

Hailee after just nineteen months of being home.

I believe with all my heart that there is HOPE for every child on the planet-no matter what is “wrong” with them, no matter how malnourished they are, no matter how profound their needs are, no matter how many people feel that they are better off where they are…

I disagree.

Family.  It changes everything.

Absolutely beautiful!!! Hailee is, your heart is, and your response to “why” is just beautiful! Keep on advocating, loving, praying for and adopting these amazing children. I love love your heart. I pray others can understand the command of the father to care for the orphans. It didn’t say the healthy ones that look a certain way….it says “the orphan”. To me that’s ALL.

Your advocacy for the orphans is why I follow your blog. I enjoy reading about all of your kids, but my husband and I are hoping to afford an adoption from Ethiopia or the DRC in the next year or two. Seeing the profound change in all of your adopted children, but particularly in Hailee and Harper, demonstrates the effect of the same kind of love Christ showed to us. I hope to do the same for a child in need. Keep it up; you inspire others!

Amen!!  This post brought tears to my eyes.  And just now as I was reading it, a song came on my playlist - so fitting for this post.  “You Have Been So Good” by Paul Baloche.  One of my favorite worship songs….this line got me right in the heart while looking at those pictures of sweet Hailee….

You have been so good to me,
You have been so good to me,
I came here broken, You made me whole
    You have been so good,
    You have been so good,
You have been so good to me.

Thank you God, that you have been SO good to Hailee.  That you protected her all those years in the orphanage, that you opened the Salem’s eyes to her situation, and that You have brought her home and made her whole.   Thank you God that You have turned Hailee’s mourning into joy.

Lord, how can I thank You
    There is just no way
    How can I thank You
    Lord, how can I repay?
For Your kindness, for Your tenderness
For Your constant presence here with me.

You have been so good to me,

You have been so good to me,

I came here broken, You made me whole

    You have been so good….

What an amazing testimony of LOVE your daughter is.  Thank you, Adeye, for sharing her with all of us.
